A place where hospitality meets solidarity
Ostello del Sorbo is a social project promoted by Associazione Diocesana di Volontariato ODV ETS, in partnership with the Municipalities of Campagnano di Roma and Formello. The hostel gives new purpose to the spaces of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Sorbo, creating a welcoming place for pilgrims and all its guests while also providing employment and social inclusion opportunities for people with autism and other psychosocial disabilities. The care and management of the premises, services and events held at the Sanctuary are entrusted to the “Desiderio di Barbiana” Cooperative, which specialises in supporting neurodivergent people into employment.

Associazione Diocesana di Volontariato ODV ETS supports people facing hardship through initiatives developed in partnership with Caritas Diocesana di Civita Castellana. Its mission is to provide effective responses to poverty and social exclusion and to promote a culture of volunteering, particularly among young people.
The “Desiderio di Barbiana” Cooperative
The “Desiderio di Barbiana” Cooperative specialises in the social and employment inclusion of people with autism and psychosocial disabilities. It operates several food service venues in Nazzano and Fiano Romano, north of Rome, and brings to Ostello del Sorbo a proven model of inclusive enterprise. The Cooperative works alongside Fondazione Quarto Nodo ETS, which provides residential programmes and other activities for people with autism and psychotic disorders under an agreement with the Lazio Regional Health Service.
